Our Mission:
The HealthCare Markets and Regulation Lab, under the leadership of Michael Chernew, is housed within the Department of Health Care Policy (HCP) at Harvard Medical School. The mission of the HealthCare Markets and Regulation Lab is to provide critical evidence, analyses and tools necessary to generate private and public sector innovations that promote high quality health care at a sustainable cost.

The success of the Lab depends upon our ability to identify and initiate transformative projects that engage industry stakeholders and key policy makers. The Lab, working collaboratively with policy experts both within and outside of HMS, supports evidence-based legislation and regulation and encourages the spread of best practices in the private sector.

Expanding on the broad efforts of HCP, the Lab addresses critical gaps in knowledge, thus enabling policymakers and industry stakeholders to identify, implement and accomplish meaningful and lasting change.
